Rome Wasn't Built In A Day

Hello all,
For this blog post I have entitled it Rome Wasn't Built In A Day. The reason I have chosen this title is because I think it is fitting for a lifestyle change. I feel that if you try and quit something cold turkey you will more than likely pick it back up. On my journey to becoming a healthier and happier individual everyday I have a choice to try something new and too not fall back into the old ways. The beauty of every day being a new day is even if I do mess up I get to start again tomorrow. I am proud of myself that yesterday I drank almost 67oz. of water. I couldn't tell you the last time I drank that much water in one day. There is an app I downloaded on my iPhone called Lift.
My boyfriend, Caleb, introduced me to this app. It is a habit forming or breaking app. The topics of habits to form or break are endless. Caleb is doing the programs 21 days to your best sleep, the habit of waking up on time, and the habit of going to the gym. I am doing the programs drinking more water, eating healthier, and exercising daily. The programs span 21 days and you can graduate from the program or repeat it. It is a really neat tool to help you stay on track with your goals. Another app that I really like is MyFitnessPal.
It is a calorie counter. It is a great tool if you are trying to lose weight and you are counting calories. I use MyFitnessPal and I had no idea how many calories were in the foods I was eating. It will shock you! Now that I count calories I have become a label reader. I read the labels on everything I eat and if it doesn't have a label I google it to see if the caloric content is on there. I was eating at the food court as the University of South Alabama one day and I decided I would have a turkey burger. Sounds healthy right? It had almost 1,000 calories. My goal for caloric intake is 1,200 calories a day. Almost all of my calories for the day were gone with that one meal. Needless to say, I started bringing my lunch to school! So, to wrap this blog post up, there are tons of tools out there to help you stay on track. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day and we won't meet our goals in a day either. Living a healthy lifestyle takes time, planning, and patience. In my next blog post I'm going to share all of the goals I want to accomplish one year from now. Stay excellent!

Happy and Healthy

Hello all,
This blog was created as a tool to keep me accountable to the goals I am setting for myself to live a happy and healthy life. In the past I have struggled with not being happy about the way I look and I still struggle with that today. I see images of girls who have lost great amounts of weight and I look at them and think that could be me. At this point in my life I am afraid that if I do not get my weight under control now, I never will and that could lead to serious health issues for me later in life. I want to live a happy and healthy life and enjoy every minute of it. I want to reach my goals and inspire other people to do the same. Stay excellent!
Happy and Healthy,
Caitlin Hinton
